In this setting you step as an unknown hero with apparently no goal, as the game has no actual story line to follow. The game takes you to a land torn apart by war, a land in which five different factions are battling each other for supremacy. I haven't played Floris, so I wasn't aware.Mount & Blade is an action role-playing game set in a medieval open-world environment in which the player can become whoever he wants, whether by joining one of the five battling factions or roaming as an outlaw.Ī medieval sandbox adventure like no other I'm surprised it isn't more talked-about or more demanded from other mods!Įdit: I seem to be seeing info that this is a Floris feature also present in Perisno. Are faction troops better and/or more cost-effective? I ask because I'm pretty new to the mod.ĭefinitely a fun feature. What I'd like to know is if Mercenary Guild troops are worth more than a bit of neat fiddling around or roleplay value? They get pretty expensive as they level up and wear better gear. 40 dwarves beat 107 Saccar Raiders with only 12 losses. They were so heavily-armoured that the snowcrawlers and Saccar raiders I was fighting could barely scratch them.

Secondary line of crossbowdwarves behind. Made an army of dwarves with heavy armour, shields, hammers and throwing hammers/axes. I tried to get them to run around behind the battle and throw spears into unarmoured backs, but the AI didn't want to cooperate. The army also had a secondary unit of peltasts, who were similarly equipped but replaced the spear with a falchion (closest I could find to a xiphos, although not that similar) and had javelins. Made a small army of hoplites using gladiator armour (closest-looking to linothorax armour), crested Hakkon helmets, big shields and awlpikes or other 1-hand-friendly spears. I consider this feature more entertaining than PoP's custom knighthood order because you can have recruited and customized your first mercenaries within five minutes of starting a brand new game. The potential combinations are beyond counting. By custom I mean you can choose their equipment from a list of nearly everything in the game. Perhaps my favourite feature in any Warband mod is Perisno's ability to outfit custom mercenaries from the Mercenary Guild location on the world map (some searching indicates not everyone knows about this - hire them from the dude on the 3rd floor inside the keep).
